Diary of a Student-Teacher #Week3Day12
Hey guys, Welcome to the 12th day of my journey as a student-teacher! Whoo-hoo! I have been consistently sharing every day’s experience with you all. I decided to do this because I want to be able to look back years after now and be able to get the details of my experience and of course make it easier for people who care to read my story.
So, if you haven’t followed from Day 1, kindly go to my medium page, grab popcorn and a bottled of chilled D’enims delight yogurt, relax and enjoy the read.
In today’s class, we completed the test sessions with the kids, and just like yesterday, it wasn’t that easy to get the kids to speak audibly. When I say “we,” I mean myself and the other teachers in my class.
It was really a jovial day, although some persons received some scolding for being overly naughty. We also recited the rhyme, Hippopotamus.
After the kids had finished taking their lunch, I told them to rest in their seats whilst I stepped out briefly to have my lunch. I came back shortly and resumed putting finishing touches to my lesson note when one of the kids walked up to me to let me know she is sweating.
Her: Teacher, I am sweating.
Me: Do you want me to fan you?
Her: (nodded)
I called her closer, took her on my lapse, and resumed fanning her.
A few minutes later, the whole class was suddenly sweating. Hahaha
While fanning them one after the other, I noticed a heat-like rash on their necks so I requested for the class powder from the class teacher to put some on their necks. Of course, the whole class suddenly wanted some powder on their necks and faces. Haha
When the class teacher came in, she made a comment that struck me.
I can’t recall the rest but I can remember her saying “… as if their parents will appreciate. "
I just smiled and kept on.
I think it is time parents know that teachers have gone beyond just teaching their kids to become their second parents. It is ideal that parents occasionally send gifts to their children’s teachers. This is not to give a child preferential treatment, rather, to show appreciation for a job well done.
Also, parents should always say well about their children’s teacher in front of their child. It is important their kids know that their teachers do so much to ensure they learn effectively.
A lot really happened today, but I don’t want to bore you with too much to read. Let’s make that tomorrow!
I hope your day went well?
