I personally handled a class today, my goodness, it wasn’t easy. We started first with Letter Work and then to Nursery Science, where we learned about Soil and its types.

I will still say that understanding education theoretically is not the same as being in the field. The greater part of becoming an educational expert is the experiential aspect of it. Before now, 70% of children I have had to tutor have always been naturally bright. I usually do not stress too much because they already understand the basics. But when you find yourself in a mixed classroom where you have children with different learning capabilities in one class taking the same lesson and at the same time, you got to innovate.

During our lesson, I tried as much as I could to carry all the kids along. My two kids; Favor and Happiness (my 4-year old) were hyperactive today!

Favor suddenly came to me requesting chalk to write on the blackboard. This is a kid that normally would just stay silently on her seat from the beginning of school hours to closing time (according to her class teacher). I saw her smiling, playing, and associating with her classmates and I felt so much joy.

Also, my 4-year old made considerable progress today. She was able to identify letters A to L with ease. Something also struck me; no matter how much she is being flogged for not being able to respond as she should, she always keeps a smiling face and continues showing great enthusiasm for learning. Most times when I see this, I silently pray in my heart for God to help her get through her learning difficulties.

Happiness’ and Favor’s attitude towards learning despite how much they have been scolded and beaten leaves a message. Life will throw a lot at you, but it is left for you to transform every circumstance into an opportunity to learn and improve. When life throws you lemons, you grab them and make lemonades.

I left school today telling myself I will never look like what I have been through. Whenever I experience a fall, I will dust myself up and keep moving.

These two kids have taught me a lesson today and I will always remember it.

I hope you had a splendid day today? Don’t forget to go read other stories if you haven’t.

See you tomorrow!
